From the poignant allure of Gabriel, to the unrestrained energy of Iona, Melbourne Dance Theatre boasts a dramatically diverse repertoire. Incorporating the the full array of dance vocabulary's, and drawing from acrobatics, drama, song and physical theatre, Melbourne Dance Theatre's repertoire offers a palette for all tastes.

  

The ballet we all know and love, but here takes on a new life. Set to Tchaikovsky's timeless score, the traditional classical images of a corps de ballet of brilliant white tutu's unfold into unexpected visual feasts. A conglomeration of ballet, contemporary, break dance and funk, encased in a story of  in a story of incredible drama and comic relief, Swan Lake is a both an exciting and entertaining ballet for audiences of all ages.   

Gabriel

Inspired by the role that angels play through the bible, Gabriel presents and explores a plethora of emotions. Poetically beautiful, the ballet evolves from one poignant image to the next. A stage bursting with dancers gives way to an emotive pas de deux of graceful fluidity.

Iona

A high impact, energetic work, demonstrating the athletic physicality of dance. The stage brims with dancers weaving intricate formations with a kaleidoscope of movements. An exciting journey, Iona carries audiences from a dreamy stillness, through the undulation of an unravelling septet, and on to the break neck pace of 12 dancers defying gravity with a cacophony of shapes.      

RED PLANET

A beautifully creative peace depicting life on an alien planet. It is dramatic and intriguing with a touch of humour. It includes the use of a number of different mediums to create an alien atmosphere.
